Chapter 7
In stark contrast to the soft interior tones of the campus that Alex had seen so far, the dining room was crisp and cool, almost utilitarian in its simplicity. It literally shone, from the polished marble floor, up the chromed legs of the tables and chairs, and off the obsidian-black table tops. Skylights throughout the room let the last of the late afternoon light in to subtly illuminate the walls.
The room was packed with people. There was an almost electric hum of conversation, which seemed to be maintained at a gentle roar. Alex and Aria had entered the dining room through stainless steel clad swaying double doors, complete
Chapter 6
As Aria strolled towards Alexs room, Jaz suddenly appeared from around a hallway corner and met up with her. Well?, Jaz asked, his enthusiasm barely in check. Well what? replied Aria, trying to suppress a grin. Please, Ms. Nachand, Jaz shot back quickly, practically begging, and stopped so that Aria would have to stop to continue the conversation.
We are so close, he went on, can he do it? Aria folded her arms across her chest, narrowed her eyes a bit and paused. She looked up and beyond Jaz as if she were visualizing and carefully choosing from her choice of answ
"Can you feel how strong it is now?" the man with the glasses excitedly asked Alex. "As you focus on the path from our source to the device, the strength keeps increasing!" Alex could feel a pull, of sorts, in his mind - a flowing of something, not through him exactly, but as if he were holding a pipe and feeling a powerful flow of fluid within it. He could not quite make out the features of the man with the glasses. The man would blur when Alex tried to look

Alex could not hear what he said, but as Dr. Mason got out of the car he stood and turned to Alex with a smile. "Martin will take your duffel bag to your room on campus" he said, and turned towards the building with the double doors. "Lets get going!" he said enthusiastically and headed off towards the steps. Alex looked at Aria, who just smiled and shrugged. "Let's get going!" she good-naturedly mimicked Dr. Mason with a giggle and turned to follow.
Alex heard the sedan drive off, and turned back to watch it go, and was
"Alex?" a musical voice softly called out. Alex steered towards the voice, his mind floating on a delicate stream of time. "Alex?" the voice called again, more insistent, with a hint of urgency. Alex felt a sudden rush, as if were rapidly falling forward. His eyes snapped open as he jerked awake, disoriented and almost in a panic. He instinctively reached out for something to grab on to. What he found was the back of a car seat in front of him and a woman's leg beside him. As he turned his head to see whom the leg belonged to, Alex calmed and smiled, his surroundings coming into focus, the motion of yet another plain white sedan gently ro
